Mohammad-Reza Zafarghandi made the remarks in a meeting with WHO chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu, on Thursday on the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.
Zafarghandi emphasized the round-the-clock efforts made by Iranian health system staff to continue providing medical and health services to people despite the current wartime conditions, which were created by the US and Israeli terrorist regimes.
Expressing appreciation for Ghebreyesu’s support in condemning attacks on Iranian medical centers, including the Pasteur Institute, located in downtown Tehran, Zafarghandi emphasized the need for rebuilding health infrastructure and securing vital medical equipment.
For his part, Ghebreyesus expressed hope that dialogue would replace war, adding that the best medicine is peace.
He also stressed the pursuit of the provision of vaccines and necessary medical supplies to Iran through WHO channels.
The meeting took place in Ghebreyesu’s office at the WHO headquarters in Geneva in a very friendly atmosphere.
