Iranian industry minister meets with Tajik, Uzbek counterparts

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade has held separate bilateral talks with his Tajik and Uzbek counterparts on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Ministerial Meeting in Bishkek, Uzbekistan, to discuss expanding industrial and economic cooperation.

In their meeting on Friday, Iran’s Mohammad Atabak and Tajik Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Sherali Kabir, emphasized accelerating the implementation of previous memoranda of understanding and operationalizing existing agreements. 
The two sides discussed increasing bilateral trade volumes and reviewed opportunities to utilize Iran’s extensive capabilities in mineral reserves, mineral processing, pharmaceuticals, and textiles. They also agreed on the necessity of expediting industrial and commercial ties between Tehran and Dushanbe.
Separately, during a meeting between the Iranian minister and Laziz Kudratov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, both parties emphasized boosting economic exchange by streamlining customs procedures and advancing existing bilateral accords. 
The discussions focused heavily on strengthening commercial and customs frameworks, enhancing collaboration in mining and mineral industries, and deploying new knowledge-based technologies based on the shared capabilities of Iran and Uzbekistan.
Furthermore, the ministers urged for expanding wider industrial and trade cooperation within the multilateral framework of the SCO.
