Speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Igor Sechin emphasized that disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz represent an attempt to reshape the mechanisms and regulations governing the global energy market to favor the United States.
The Rosneft chief noted that the strategic risks and consequences of this situation were poorly evaluated and severely underestimated, warning that consumers and ordinary people will bear the brunt of the fallout.
Sechin acknowledged that Western nations are currently facing a dual price shock, with sharp increases hitting both electricity costs and vehicle fuel prices. Fuel prices in the United States have surged by more than 50 percent, while European markets have witnessed price hikes exceeding 20 percent.
