Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, on the occasion of the first martyrdom anniversary of scientific elites, who were lost their lives in last year's 12-day Israeli imposed war, Aghamiri pointed to destruction caused to the university during the Ramadan War.
Stating that the university is awaiting the allocation of resources, he said appropriate funds have been foreseen to begin reconstruction and provide necessary equipment to the departments destroyed in the US-Israeli assault.
According to him, the university authority does not expect the government to provide all of credit for the estimated loss in the current circumstances, but a suitable amount has been predicted can suffice the existing needs.
The president of Shahid Beheshti University commended Iran's scientific and research community, saying that despite all the hostility and international pressure, the country was not empty-handed, while engaging in a "smart, ultra-modern, and in fact, a technological war with the enemy."
Emphasizing that universities produce researches that may be used in various fields, including medicine, geology, and sometimes in military sectors, Aghamiri said one of the research institutes hit by the enemy at Shahid Beheshti University was working in the field of medicine.
The United States and the Israeli regime deliberately bombed hundreds of vital facilities, including schools, universities, hospitals across Iran in an unprovoked war of aggression launched on 28 February 2026.
According to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran, more than 30 universities, including some pioneer institutions, were directly hit by the US and Israeli regime in their aggression, in violation of human rights and international law, as well as, in defiance of most basic human values and democracy.
