IAEA board must not become a venue for ‘whitewashing’ military aggression: Iran

Tehran, IRNA - Iran has strongly criticized a joint draft resolution by the United States and three European countries at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors, warning that the body must not become a venue for whitewashing military aggression.

Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi wrote in a post on X on Tuesday that the anti-Iran draft resolution represents a dangerous attempt to whitewash the responsibility of aggressors and criminals.
“As recorded in IAEA documents, the attacks by the Zionist regime and the United States on Iran’s nuclear facilities halted verification activities and forced IAEA inspectors out of Iran for safety reasons,” Gharibabadi wrote.
The deputy foreign minister accused Washington of now seeking to shifting the consequences of its own illegal attack into a case against the Islamic Republic.
“This is a reversal of responsibility,” Gharibabadi said. “They target safeguarded facilities, disrupt nuclear safety and verification capabilities, and then use the Board of Governors to pressure Iran.”
The senior Iranian diplomat stressed that the Board of Governors should not serve as a place for whitewashing military aggression and transferring its costs to the victim country.
