Iran sends 36 Red Crescent rescue teams to Iraq for martyred Leader’s funeral ceremonies

Tehran, IRNA – Iran has deployed 36 specialized Red Crescent rescue and relief teams to Iraq to provide emergency services during funeral ceremonies for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala, the head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society said on Tuesday.

Pirhossein Kolivand said the teams had begun their mission and would remain in Iraq until the ceremonies conclude and emergency support is no longer required, according to a statement published by the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
Kolivand said the society had placed four medical clinics, along with its Imam Ali Hospital in Najaf, on full alert. The facilities, supported by 500 doctors, rescue workers and volunteers, are prepared to provide medical and emergency services to mourners attending the ceremonies in Najaf and Karbala.
Funeral and farewell ceremonies for Ayatollah Khamenei are scheduled to be held in the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala on Wednesday. Ceremonies will continue in the Iranian city of Mashhad on Thursday, followed by his burial at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS).
