The West has consistently sought to impose its self-constructed values of liberal democracy, masked as human rights, upon the world, while disregarding the rich culture of other nations, including Islamic countries, said the statement issued on Wednesday.
Freedom and human dignity are divine gifts that everyone, people and governments alike must honor. Respecting these values is key to safeguarding human rights, it added.
For nearly fifty years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made it a priority to observe this day to highlight the foundational sources of human rights within Islam, foster academic and cultural dialogue to develop an Islamic framework for human rights, and offer a viable model of religious democracy and governance grounded in Islamic rationality, it noted.
Marking the anniversary of the Islamic Human Rights and Human Dignity Day, the High Council for Human Rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran affirms that Islamic nations are endowed with the potential to achieve progress rooted in Islamic principles and respect for human dignity.
It also holds that the recent hostile actions by global powers against Islam only further confirm the truth of the Islamic faith.
