In a telephone conversation on Saturday, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, and Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister, exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and the latest regional developments.
Araghchi also held a separate phone conversation on Saturday with Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan’s army chief, to discuss regional matters.
According to the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Araghchi and Ishaq Dar also agreed to maintain close cooperation and to meet in New York on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly.
Ishaq Dar stressed the importance of uninterrupted energy supplies and the safe, expeditious passage of ships, given their implications for developing countries and global supply chains.
The Pakistani side underscored that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable means to ensure peace and stability in the region.
