"With striking precision, most of these charges describe the very actions the United States itself has initiated, perpetrated, or supported," Baqaei wrote in a post on his X account on Saturday, in response to what he described as "a lengthy list of accusations against Iran" by the White House spokesperson.
"This flight from reality and act of projection should come as no surprise," he said, taunting the American official by quoting a proverb: “The wicked flee when no one is pursuing.”
The reaction came a day after Deputy White House Spokesperson Anna Kelly dismissed a report by the UN Human Rights Council about the US killing of Iranian civilians during the war as ineffective.
Without acknowledging US military actions in the West Asia region, she accused Iran of killing Americans and carrying out attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and against regional countries, without providing any evidence.
