Kurenkov made the remarks during a meeting with Omid Mohtarami, deputy head of Iran’s Crisis Management Organization, who was visiting Astrakhan to attend the Caspian-2026 international exercise and discuss bilateral cooperation in crisis management.
He said Moscow and Tehran could achieve major successes through joint work and improve the security of people in both countries.
Kurenkov said that Iran had stood by Russia in difficult circumstances, and Russia is ready to do the same. He added that Iran and Russia should demonstrate that they are friends who support and assist each other when needed.
Mohtarami, for his part, said Iran, which faces a high risk of natural disasters and other hazards, was interested in using the experience and technical expertise of other countries, including Russia.
He said the two countries had increased cooperation and joint action in crisis management in recent years and were ready to develop a long-term program covering the crisis-management cycle under a joint agreement.
