Pezeshkian: European perceptions of Iran do not reflect reality

Tehran, IRNA – President Masoud Pezeshkian says perceptions of Iran held by some European countries do not accurately reflect the realities of the Islamic Republic, urging the new Danish ambassador to help present a more realistic image of the country.

Pezeshkian made the remarks during a ceremony on Tuesday to receive the credentials of Denmark’s new Ambassador to Iran, Christian Atzen.
“The mindset that has taken shape among some European countries toward Iran is not accurate and does not correspond to the realities of Iran,” the president said, expressing confidence that Atzen would be able to observe the realities of Iranian society, culture, and civilization firsthand during his mission and help correct such perceptions.
Pezeshkian highlighted Iran’s peaceful and engagement-oriented approach, saying the Iranian nation has historically pursued peace, tranquility, constructive relations, and healthy interaction with other countries.
“Denmark is also one of the countries with which Iran seeks to develop relations and interactions,” he added.
Atzen, for his part, expressed pleasure at beginning his mission in Iran and said he had been impressed by the country’s civilization, history and culture.
“I am happy to be in Iran and have been impressed by the beautiful civilization, history and unique culture of the Iranian people,” the Danish ambassador said.
He also pledged to convey a fair and accurate picture of Iran to Denmark. “I am committed to this and will carry it out with complete sincerity,” Atzen said.
