Speaking at the inauguration of the country’s first university-based center for the diagnosis and treatment of childhood cancer on Thursday, Eslami said the AEOI considers health and food security a strategic responsibility for the country’s development.
“We take pride in being able to continue the path of progress despite all the pressures, sanctions, threats and attacks against the country’s nuclear industry,” he said.
Eslami added that alongside such pressures, Iran has also faced what he described as false allegations and claims against the country.
“Despite these circumstances, our colleagues have been able to carry out their mission successfully and preserve the country’s movement at the frontiers of science,” he said.
Eslami said Iran has expanded its radiopharmaceutical portfolio in line with leading countries, noting that around 78 products are currently being produced and supplied continuously under contracts with the Food and Drug Administration.
More than 20 additional products are also at the research stage, he said, adding that they would be added to the portfolio after completing clinical procedures and meeting Health Ministry requirements.
The AEOI chief also highlighted Iran’s achievements in alpha-emitting radiopharmaceuticals, saying the country was among the first to introduce such medicines into medical treatment.
He said Iran’s nuclear industry has been able to compete with the United States in the field of alpha-emitting medicines despite the threats facing the country.
