Iran cannot be blockaded as it has borders with 15 nations: Pezeshkian

Tehran, IRNA – President Masoud Pezeshkian, referring to the US economic war, says the enemy cannot easily isolate the Islamic Republic, given that the country shares borders with 15 nations, allowing it to continue trade, political, and security exchanges through various routes.

Pezeshkian made these remarks on Thursday prior to his departure for Turkmenistan to participate in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit and an environmental forum on the Caspian Sea.
He expressed hope that his visit to Ashgabat would provide a valuable opportunity to further expand Iran's relations with its neighbors and mitigate the effects of the US maritime blockade, stressing that adversaries cannot easily encircle Iran, given its proximity with a large number of nations.
Noting that the Caspian Sea is currently facing environmental threats, he called the participation in the littoral states' summit significant as any damage to the body of water will create numerous problems for the surrounding nations.
The President continued by highlighting the challenges the region is grappling with, and said that the trip also offers a valuable opportunity to talk about multilateral relations, countering unilateralism, energy cooperation, and other political, economic, social, and security matters.
