Iran summons rotating president of European Union

Tehran, IRNA – In response to the inclusion of baseless allegations against Iran in the statement issued at the European Union summit, Aidan Cronin, the Ambassador of Ireland—which currently holds the rotating presidency of the EU—was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Alireza Yousefi, Assistant to the Foreign Minister and Director-General for Western Europe.

During the meeting, the Director-General for Western Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected the allegations leveled against Iran and condemned the European Union’s irresponsible policies regarding the current situation in the West Asia region and the Strait of Hormuz.

He further noted that the existing insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is the result of military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran—aggression carried out with the overt and covert support of certain European countries.
