Jalali made the remarks during a specialized event titled “Religion and Power in Iran,” held at the Institute of Scientific Information for Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow, on Monday evening. The occasion also saw the unveiling of a new edition of “State, Religion and Church in Russia and Worldwide,” a quarterly scientific journal dedicated to Iran, as well as the presentation of academic projects by the Ibn Sina Islamic Studies Foundation.
During this session — attended by a group of Russian Iranologists, researchers, and students — the ambassador highlighted his country’s resistance and steadfastness against global hegemons, saying the Iranian governance represents a return to human morality, a system where the people resist oppression and refuse to compromise their dignity.
Jalali said the Iranian nation’s spirit — and standing as guardians of moral boundaries and human nature — has been visible in the squares and streets since the US-Israeli war of aggression, which he said ensures the threats posed by figures like Trump fail to break the Iranians’ determination.
Referring to anti-Iran policies of the US and its allies, he noted that they had applied every available tool at their disposal for nearly five decades to break Iran and the Iranian people, but to no avail because of Iran’s power rooted in innate human nature and morality.
He expressed disappointment over the disregard of many global leaders for moral values in their governance, arguing that such a stance leads to atrocities like the Minab school, where American aggressors dropped bombs on Iranian schoolchildren aged seven to twelve.
Jalali further said that the absence of morality is the reason some nations legitimatize terrorism and others openly declare their intent to destroy an ancient civilization, a reference to repeated rhetoric of Trump.
The atrocities we witness in the world today are the consequence of power devoid of moral substance, a reason behind the Israeli bombardment of innocent and oppressed people in Gaza, resulting in the massacre of over 80,000 human beings, he added.
The Iranian Ambassador to Russia also highlighted the shared approaches of the Islamic Republic n and the Russian Federation — specifically their emphasis on national traditions rooted in ethics, and a commitment to justice, peace, and tranquility guided by moral values.
