IRGC: Two oil ankers caught fire, halted in Strait of Hormuz

Tehran, IRNA – Two non-compliant tankers caught fire and were halted after hitting mines laid in the southern Strait of Hormuz while attempting to pass through prohibited area, The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps said on Tuesday.

According to an IRGC statement, also a US military MQ-9 drone was identified and targeted, bringing the total number of such downed drones to 54.

The IRGC Navy and Aerospace Forces, are continuously monitoring the situation in the region to exercise sovereignty and control over the Strait of Hormuz, IRGC announced.

“Passing through the mined and illegal route will result in nothing but the burning of the offenders’ assets, and that if such actions by the US regime continue, oil companies will have to pay a much heavier price,” the statement warned.
