Speaking at a ceremony marking Student Day and the National Day of the Fight against Global Arrogance in Tabriz, northwestern Iran, on Wednesday, Haji Babaei said Iran seeks a prosperous future for its people and equal opportunities for its students.
The official also highlighted the peaceful applications of nuclear technology, particularly in medicine, criticizing Washington for seeking to deny Iran access to it.
Referring to the attack on Shajareh Tayyebeh School in Minab, southern Iran, and the killing of students, he questioned why a school was targeted if the US dispute was not with the Iranian people.
Haji Babaei described the attack as a deep wound in the nation’s collective memory and stressed that defending the country also involves scientific progress, education, arts and sports, not just military capabilities.
The lawmaker also added that Iran does not seek war but will firmly defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any aggression, warning the United States and President Donald Trump that Iran’s missile capabilities have advanced and that Washington will bear responsibility for the consequences of any new conflict.
