In a message on Wednesday, on the occasion of the 13th of Aban — the National Day of Fighting against Global Arrogance — Ayatollah Khamenei further called national unity, solidarity, and social cohesion key factors for success that he said must underpin every word and action, individually and collectively at every level.
Leader’s message is as follows:
Today is the National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance. It’s also a day that brings together several milestones in the confrontation between the Front of Truth and the Front of Falsehood, and the confrontation between the Front of the Oppressed and the Front of the Oppressors. Perhaps it could be said that on the 13th of Aban [Nov. 4] this year, the Iranian nation understands the stance it must take toward the criminal United States more clearly and unequivocally than ever before. Nevertheless, reviewing the roots, reasons, and turning points in the US’s escalating hostility – and the Iranian nation's firm resistance to them – serves as a guiding light for the path ahead.
The start of US oppression against the Iranian nation dates back more than seven decades to the time when the US orchestrated the 28th of Mordad [Aug. 19, 1953] coup to ensure its ability to continually plunder Iran’s national resources and wealth, particularly its oil. The decades after that, leading up to the victory of the Islamic Revolution, were similarly marked by relentless US efforts to pillage the assets of the Iranian people.
On this path, by establishing SAVAK and imposing a suffocating security climate over society, they gave the tyrannical regime of that time greater latitude to be able to suppress any form of protest. On the eve of the Islamic Revolution’s glorious victory, they also resorted to every conceivable stratagem to attempt to preserve their handpicked government.
The hostile conduct of the US following the Iranian nation’s great victory in the Revolution can likewise be summed up in a long list of actions taken against the Iranian people. This includes their support for separatist groups, the plotters of coups, and the heartless MEK, who mercilessly martyred not only the scientific, political, and social intellectual elite but also a multitude of ordinary citizens.
They also provided direct, comprehensive support to the Baath Party during the First Imposed War; shot down a civilian passenger aircraft, killing its passengers; imposed extensive, prolonged, severe economic sanctions; plotted and supported numerous episodes of unrest and sedition, which included even providing weapons; assassinated General Soleimani, a national hero of Iran and the Islamic Ummah; stole the Iranian people’s money and assets in various countries; and ultimately, started direct military attacks in the Second and Third Imposed Wars, martyring large numbers of Iran’s elite, scientists, and commanders, as well as vast numbers of its innocent people. The martyrs included infants and young children to the elderly, and foremost among them was the great Leader of the Islamic Revolution (may God sanctify his pure soul).
Throughout all these stages, the arrogant leaders of the US and their minions have consistently sought to impose their domination on Iran and force it into submission. In their latest version of this coercion, they have even discarded all deceptive international pretenses, brazenly pursuing their goal of fragmenting the country, subjugating the nation, collapsing the political system, and destroying Iran's noble, ancient civilization. But at every stage, they’ve come up against the impenetrable wall of on-the-ground realities and the steadfast resolve of the valiant Iranian nation. Their miscalculations and arrogant delusions have therefore resulted in enormous costs being imposed on the American people and the US government’s client states.
Today, the long-standing hostility of the US toward the Muslim nation of Iran, and the courageous resistance of all Iranians against this enemy, has reached a point where not only the 13th of Aban, but every single day and hour, has become a time for standing firmly and fighting the Great Satan. Currently, the situation in the Persian Gulf, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, has not only shattered the myth of the US’s invincibility, it’s also exposed the weakness and helplessness of governments that rely on powers other than their own people, as well as the disloyalty and inability of major powers to defend their client states.
Although Iran’s exercise of control over the Strait of Hormuz and the destruction of US military bases in regional countries were responses to the US’s aggression and the crimes they committed during the Third Imposed War, they simultaneously constitute an initiatory jihad [jihad ibtida’i] against Global Arrogance on a regional scale. Should those aggressions be repeated, the response will be much more extensive.
This demonstration of power, coupled with the unity of the various spheres in the Front of Truth and the strategic, powerful acts of heroism by the Resistance Front – from Palestine and Lebanon to Iraq and Yemen – heralds a bright, hopeful dawn, which is the banner of the Front of Truth being raised high and the laying of the groundwork for a new world order. This is because whenever the Front of Truth is blessed with trust in God, steadfastness, and self-sacrifice, the Front of Falsehood, regardless of its power, resources, or whoever or whatever stands behind it, will be unable to withstand its force. Its inevitable fate is retreat and defeat, as affirmed by the divine promise, "Indeed, falsehood is bound to perish" (Quran 17:81).
Praise God, the Iranian nation has learned profound lessons from the pure teachings of Islam as taught by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), the teachings of the Islamic Revolution, and the school of thought of its wise leaders, the Great Khomeini and Martyr Khamenei, may God exalt their noble stations. With the fulfillment of divine promises, the Iranian nation’s faith in the righteousness of this path has grown stronger day by day.
Today, as a result of the disgrace that the Arrogant Powers have inflicted upon themselves, the declining power and hegemony of the United States has suffered an irreversible fall in both dimensions of its power: its hard military power and its international soft power. And this process of its collapse has accelerated as a consequence.
If there are still those who entertain even the slightest hope that the hegemonic system may change its behavior or that shifts in its political parties and factions may bring about a change, or if there are people who imagine that by making concessions to the US, they can persuade it to abandon its hostility toward the Iranian nation, they are gravely mistaken. Such a false assumption is an act of ingratitude for the great victories that the Muslim nation of Iran has achieved through its trust in God, its steadfastness, and its struggle. What the Great Satan wants is the unconditional surrender of the Iranian nation.
Even the slightest inclination toward submission to this domineering enemy would cause the immense capital acquired through the blessings brought by the blood of our martyrs and the sacrifices of the entire Iranian nation to be lost. It would also embolden the arrogant enemy to make further demands, launch more wars, and carry out its next acts of aggression.
